Sweet baby Ivy. Such a precious dainty little girl who is so dearly loved by her family and all who have had to privilege of meeting her.
I was lucky enough to be one of the first to meet her during our fresh48 session which had an interesting start. Buckle up y’all, hold on tight, and listen to this wild adventure.
After about 15 minutes on the road I realize I forgot my wallet (insert hand on the face emoji here! ugghhh!) and have to turn around and go back to get it because our session is at the naval hospital. Then, as I finally pull up to Portsmouth Naval Hospital, the mother texts me saying Ivy needs to go under the bili lights for 2 hours and after that she’ll only be able to come out for 30 minutes and this goes on until noon the next day! Now I know how excited the mother was to have these photos, and I’m pretty determined myself HAHA so, I wait.
Time comes for me to head up to their room annnnddddd – I get LOST ~ still inside the parking garage no less!!! Now y’all if you know anything about me it should be that I have absolutely no sense of direction and if there is any way to get lost it will always find me. Naturally I’m beginning to freak out because I’m thinking “ok I only have 30 minutes to photograph this baby and I have about 15 minutes to find this room in this giant hospital”. Thankfully the mother was on the phone with me and blindly guided me to the elevator I needed to be at, where her husband then met me and walked me to back to the room!!
Once we got back to the room Ivy was still under the lights. So small and dainty yet oh so perfect. Ivy is the missing puzzle piece for this now family of 5 and it was clear to see how much she is loved. Thankful to have been able to document these fleeting moments for this family. Those first few days of life hold so much that change in the blink of an eye. The soft wrinkly skin, peach fuzz hair, how they fit in your arms. These are the memories you don’t want to forget!
This sweet girl is already such a fighter and so strong. It seems she has a murmur in her heart and is going to have some rough roads ahead. Please join me in praying for strength and peace for her, the family, and all the doctors who will be involved. God has a perfect plan for this precious babe!
