New engagement session comin at y’all today!!! Alyssa and Brent chose the beautiful historic yorktown as the backdrop for their engagement session. The weather was finicky for us with off and on chances of rain but we still managed to get some beautiful images!!

Alyssa and Brent got engaged back in March of this year. She’s a Kindergarten teacher and Brent works at the Shipyard. He is an avid camper who even got Alyssa to join in (even though she said she was a little apprehensive LOL). Now, they’ve been on more camping trips than they can count! Together they enjoy exploring the areas, hiking, and trying out breweries and wineries during the day and then relaxing by the campfire at night. Brent even proposed during a camping trip at the top of one of their hikes.

Alyssa and Brent were troopers with me a few weeks ago when we did these photos. We were racing the weather to get these done but they were so trusting and we got some amazing images!!

Now I don’t know what has been going on with this Virginia weather but it seemed like every time I checked the forecast, it’d look fine then BOOM ~ session day comes and there’s 70+% chances of rain. Alyssa and I had been talking back and forth that day. At one point we decided to reschedule because the chances of rain were so big but then we’d look on another app and it said something completely different haha!!!

In the end, we decided to go for it and take our chances. As I was driving into Yorktown, dark clouds started to form so I knew we needed to be “efficient” with our time together. Brent loves the battlefields of Yorktown and their historic significance. He said he growing up in that area, he always enjoyed seeing the fences from back then.

Alyssa said she loves the beaches of Yorktown near the George Coleman Memorial Bridge because Brent is from Yorktown and she lived in Gloucester. This bridge is an important factor in their love story!! Plus it provided a beautiful backdrop for their romantic photos! In the end the rain caught up with us but we still snagged some cute pics with the clear umbrellas before it got too windy 😉

Can’t wait to go back to that area for their wedding next April! In the meantime, feel free to scroll through some of my favorite images of our time together.
