Alright so it’s almostttt the end of 2019.  And since I successfully failed at blogging all my sessions/weddings this year I decided (on the day of New Year’s Eve no less ~ better late than never HAHA!) to blog my Year In Review with photos from everyyyyy session of the year!  Stick around friends because it’s going to be good 😉

Looking back on this year it’s hard to remember everything that’s happened.  Sometimes I struggle to wrap my mind around the fact that we’re actually entering into a new DECADE!!  Like how can that be?!?!  Anybody else out there feel like you have no sense of time and should still be 10 years younger than you actually are???  Anybody??  But I’m thankful for growth, difficulties, and new opportunities that have happened throughout the course of 2019.

This is the first year I put myself out there as a “wedding photographer”.  I vividly remember thinking to myself how awesome it would be to actually photograph a wedding, but how I’d never be ready.  Those fears paralyzed me.  But in Oct of 2018 I had the sweetest couple ask me to document their big day while knowing about my lack of experience.  They expressed full confidence in me and because of that – I was blown away!!  May of 2019 I shot my first solo wedding and confirmed my passion.  Capturing one of the happiest days of a couple’s life.  Documenting the big and small details that go into all the planning.  Freeze this special day so the bride, groom, and family are able to look back on it and relive all the emotions. This is what I’m called to do!  Truly an amazing honor!!  Since then I have captured 4 solo weddings, 4 engagements, and was the second shooter of 2 weddings with Kristin O’Leary Photography!

2019 was also a great year for families.  It was so heartwarming to welcome new clients into the ECP family and reconnect with familiar faces.  These sessions will always hold a special place in my heart because as a mother, I can relate to how important it is to freeze a season of life.  Remembering how the children are right now.  Their smiles, playfulness, special features.  This is what needs to be documented.  It was an honor to be the one to preserve these precious memories for all these amazing families throughout the year!!

This year I had the privilege of capturing of capturing 5 different senior sessions.  These 5 individuals have completed so much in life and have begun a new chapter in life.  Each session brought it’s own fun memories and stories about what they’ve accomplished, what their plans are going forward, and how they’re going to make their goals a reality!!  Thankful to have been chosen to document this milestone and wish them all nothing but the best in the new year!

This year was also fun because I had the pleasure of capturing “unique” sessions.  Photography is more than just families, wedding, seniors, etc.  Photography gives me the privilege of capturing special moments of your lives.  This year those special occasions, ranged from first birthdays, turning Dirty Thirty, to a 100th birthday celebration, back to school, military homecoming,  and even first and 20th anniversaries!  These sessions kept me on my toes and allowed my creativity to shine!  Excited to see what kind of special occasions 2020 will bring!

This is the year my love for extended families has exploded!!  Seriously y’all, some people dread them – I LOOOVE them!!!  Gathering all the family for photos that rarely happen and spending time having fun, making new memories is the best.  I know the amount of work that goes into planning these but it is definitely worth it!  It’s my hope that these photos will be the ones that last for generations.  When the kids are grown you can look back on these photos and remember having everyone together.  These sessions don’t have to happen often but when they do, you better believe I make it worth it and capture allllllll the photos possible!!  Interested in booking your own but hesitant??  Email me and lets chat 🙂 Trust me when I say they’re fun and my favorite for a reason! Looking forward to what new extended families I’ll meet in 2020!

This year I created my Maternity Milestone Package.  This allows expecting parents to document the entire process of pregnancy from announcement all the way to Fresh 48!!  Going through this journey with some friends has been amazing.  2019 was truly an amazing year for them and I’m honored to have had the privilege of capturing some of their special moments.  Excited to see what 2020 has in store for each of these families.  Praying nothing but continued blessings over them!

Mini Sessions are offered select times throughout the year.  It’s a great option if you’re looking to update family photos or have a child (or husband HA!) who just reallyyy isn’t into the whole picture thing.  This year I offered 4 different mini sessions: spring, sunflower, fall, and Santa.  Spring minis were held in my friends gorgeous backyard overlooking the water.  Fall minis included cotton fields and some beautiful fall foliage.  Sunflower minis were totally last minute and brought such joy to everyone who was there!  Santa minis were held at Nansemond Brewing Station in Downtown Suffolk and provided the perfect place for Santa to share holiday magic with the children.  If you’d like to see a full blog post on this year’s Santa Mini, head HERE.  Soooo many awesome families came out, you’ll want to follow me there!!  Thankful to each and every family who participated in this year’s mini sessions!

As I finish this up ~ ya know, at 7:00 pm on New Year’s Eve 😉 I can’t help but feel beyond thankful for all of my clients.  It’s my goal to make sure each family, couple, etc. walks away feeling happy and excited.  To create and experience that makes getting photos taken an enjoyable one where memories are made.  I truly hope each of my clients felt this!!

If you’d like to talk about scheduling your own session or need someone to capture your wedding day, I’d love to chat!  Feel free to fill out the contact form and let’s get connected.  Looking forward to continuing to serve you all into 2020 and meeting new friends along the way!!

All my best,

Emily
